Amalfi COAST & Puglia
We’ll spend the first half of our time exploring the Puglia one of Italy's most authentic and undiscovered regions where we’ll learn to cook Pugliese style, check out white-washed towns, and savor the region's famous beaches.
From there, we will head inland towards the other coastline — stopping in the fairytale town of Alberobello and then onward to the ancient city of Matera which is famous for its cave-dwelling homes and fascinating history.

Day 1 - Lecce
Arrive
Arrive to Lecce by 3pm and check in to our centrally located hotel. Drop off your bags, meet your roomie (and maybe new best friend?) and begin exploring this stunning southern Italian city on your own for a bit before meeting up with the rest of the group.
Later that afternoon, get a feel for the ‘heel’ of Italy by exploring this charming town with its baroque buildings as our favorite local guide steers you through ancient streets. Afterwards, we’ll hit up a local favorite spot and sit in the garden with a truly Italian meal and plenty of wine.
Welcome to Italy!

Day 2 - Lecce/Otranto
OH Otranto
At 8am, we'll drive to Otranto, a town famous for its white washed walls and fabulous seaside views.
At noon, we'll reconvene for a seafood lunch - enjoy the local flavors before we head to the beach to soak up the sun. Spend the rest of the afternoon lounging at the beach, complete with perfect temperature water, beach bars nearby, and rocks to jump off of (if you dare!)
At 5pm we'll stroll through town to meet up with our favorite Pugliese chef who will take us to the market to pick up some local products before teaching us how to make a few traditional Italian dishes.
We’ll end the evening with a stroll through the piazza with a well-earned gelato.

Day 3 - Alberobello & Matera
Cave Dwelling
This morning, we'll head to Alberobello, a small town in Italy known for its distinct trullo style buildings. Take a few hours to roam the narrow streets, meet local shopkeepers, and have a mid-morning espresso.
Around noon, we'll start to make our way to Matera, stopping along the way for lunch in the countryside.
We'll get to Matera (one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world) around 4pm. After we check into our unique accommodations, enjoy some free time to explore the labrynith-like streets.
That evening we'll have a family-style pasta dinner in an open air courtyard in the middle of the old town.

About southern Italy
Most of southern Italy is still relatively un-touristed, giving you an authentic experience of Italian life in places like Lecce, Otranto, and Matera. The areas that are popular, like Capri, Positano, and Sorrento, are so for a reason - they're unbelievably beautiful with great food and constant sunshine.
