Arrive into Amman, Jordan's bustling capital. This evening, you’ll meet your new travel crew and head to a local restaurant to enjoy a traditional mezze-style welcome dinner flowing with mint tea, fresh juices, and a variety of small dishes. IMMERSE Day 2 - Amman, Dead Sea Low and Behold Head out with the group and kick off the day with a visit to the Amman Citadel and Roman Theater. Make sure you work up an appetite as you explore the city because up next, we’re heading into the kitchen ourselves to give authentic Arabic cooking a go. Follow along with the local guide and take a note or two so you can impress with your newfound culinary clout when you get home. ​ After starring on Top Chef Jordan, we’re rolling out of the city and cruising down to the Dead Sea. And by down, we do mean down. We’re heading to the lowest point on dry land in the entire world. Float out from the golden banks into the spectacularly salty dreamscape and take it all in. That night, we’ll have dinner as a group back at the hotel. TRAVERSE Day 3 - Dead Sea, Wadi Mujib, Petra Ancient Cliffs and Canyons Fuel up at the hotel; you’ve got quite an active day ahead. We’re departing early to trek into the snaking canyons of Wadi Mujib, where shallow river beds have been chiseled over millions of years by rushing waters. Dodge that Middle Eastern sun beneath the shade of towering cliffs as we wind our way past mountains and valleys to stunning, hidden waterfalls. ​ We’ll grab lunch as a group near the hotel, and then we’re rolling on to the unreal structures of ancient Petra. The night is yours to explore, relax, and enjoy dinner with friends. ​ *Note: The hike through Wadi Mujib is weather dependent, and the site is closed from November 1st - March 31st. Those not able to hike Wadi Mujib will adventure through another popular canyon nearby. ADVENTURE Day 4 - Petra Iconic Petra No Jordan trip would be complete without Petra's stone marvels, so today you’ll get to channel your inner Indiana Jones! This amazing place is massive, so be prepared to get your step count up. In the morning, you’ll learn the fascinating history of Petra and enjoy a catered lunch with the locals. The afternoon is free to do some exploring on your own. Pack some water and get lost in this amazing natural playground. In the evening, you’ll get to experience the incredible Petra by Night. Though bars are few and far between in Jordan, we know a secret spot to grab a cold beer in the desert. EXPERIENCE Day 5 - Wadi Rum DESERT ADVENTURE Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out to the sun-kissed valley of Wadi Rum for striking views of Jordan's rolling desert landscape. ​ We'll have lunch among the giant rocky outcroppings that rise from the shades of sepia before jumping into the back of a Jeep to explore in rugged style. (Please note: desert Jeeps do not have seat belts, so hang tight!) After a day spent cruising Jordan's immense sandy dunes, we'll head to some of the most unique accommodations we’ve seen yet for unforgettable sunset views across the desert. ESCAPE Day 6 - Amman FREE DAY Wake up early for an unforgettable camel ride to watch the sunrise. After, we’ll head back to Amman on a six-hour drive. Once we arrive in the early afternoon, the day is yours to enjoy. We’ll regroup in the late evening for one final dinner together. SAVOR Day 7 - Amman FAREWELL Sadly, it is our last morning in Jordan. The dead sea is the lowest place on land on the whole planet (1400ft below sea level). There are more than 800 carved tombs in Petra. This trip will require lots of walking and movement, compared to other FTLO trips. We recommend this trip for adventurers and those who are comfortable walking for several hours at a time. As one of our more active trips be prepared to be on the go. During the summer, Jordan can get very hot (100 °F), and during the winter, very cold for U.S. west coast standards (40°F.). If you get there early and you’re not in need of a nap, head out past traditional Finnish homes for a midday stroll through the charming city center. This is, of course, the home of jolly ole Saint Nick, so for some added magic, you can even check out Santa’s village and hop on a sleigh ride into the forest. In the evening, we’ll meet up for welcome drinks before our first taste of Lapland cuisine at our welcome dinner. Congrats, you’ve made it to the capital capital of Finnish Lapland and the entrance to the Arctic Circle! ​ *Please note that this trip now starts in Rovaniemi sled Day 2 - Rovaniemi join the pack Get up and get ready for some fun; today, we’re finding the Lapland spirit by heading out into the rugged wilderness on a husky ride for the ultimate cold weather thrill. Harness your pack of pups, wind through pine forests and over frozen lakes, and take in the winter wonderland with the best Lapland guides around. Afterward, we’ll return for some lingonberry juice and much-needed and much-appreciated puppy playtime. ​ In the evening, you’ll zip up in ridiculous (but warm!) dry suits to go ice floating beneath those endless Lapland stars, and if we're lucky, the Northern Lights will put on one of their spectacular shows. FLOAT Day 3 - Sinetta in glass houses ​ Get up early to check out Santa’s village if you haven’t seen it yet, or head out on a morning snowshoe for some final Rovaniemi views. After that, we’re hitting the road and winding north for the glass igloos of Sinettä. ​ Spend the afternoon sipping cocktails by the ice bar, then throw things back to a simpler time, head for the hills, pop on a sled, and set arctic-speed records. That evening, you can slow things down a notch and unwind in a private sauna, or, if you want more of that great outdoors, hop in one of the hot tubs to soak up Lapland’s beauty. ​ In the evening, we’ll all get together for a group dinner and a taste of the Arctic. When it’s time to hit the hay, take it all in through the glass roof of your igloo hotel; weather permitting, you may even get your own private aurora borealis dance overhead—not a bad way to round off the day. Gaze Day 4 - Kiruna ON TO SWEDEN Say goodbye to Finland, it’s time to make our way to Kiruna, a mining town and the northernmost city in all of Sweden. After we drop our bags, it’s time for a bit of authentic indigenous culture—we’re taking a deep dive into the life of the Sami people, discovering how they survived the Arctic, and eating a traditional lunch (reindeer steaks by the fire, anyone?). This entire region has great snowpack for more than seven months of the year and massive expanses of wilderness to enjoy, so it's no surprise it’s become one of Lapland's premier destinations. Grab a bite with friends in the evening, and then, if you're lucky, you'll spot those magical northern lights once more. cruise Day 5 - Kiruna SNOWMOBILING No Lapland adventure is complete with a fair share of winter sports, so suit up, it's time to roll out into the great outdoors for some snowmobiling fun with our favorite Viking guides. Head out into the Swedish wilderness and ride on until you reach a cabin in the middle of nowhere. With the crew, you'll try some local delicacies (reindeer tongue, anyone?) and warm up before you hop back on your trusty ride and wind back along a new route home. The afternoon and evening are free to try cross country skiing, catch the arctic sunset, or head to the one English pub in town to mingle with the locals. Connect Day 6 - Tromsø Velkommen We’ll be heading out on the road again today, this time toward Tromsø, Norway, one of Lapland's cultural hubs. Framed by snowy peaks, surrounded by arctic waterways, and filled with historic wooden homes, this is one magical Norwegian destination. That evening, we'll all head out for drinks and a tour of what just may be the northernmost brewery on the whole planet. With more than enough taps to choose from, it's one fine way to say hey to Norway. After a few pints, hit the town with the crew as you keep your eyes peeled for more of that green magic in the sky. RELAX Day 7 - Tromsø Sauna at Sea After a bite, we’re all going to roll out together and spend the morning checking out the town on a private tour. You’ll have some free time before we get back together later in the afternoon, so keep exploring if you’re up to it. Try some local Norwegian specialties (hello, whale meat!) and grab a drink with the locals. Head to the water for a floating sauna session before dinner and dive into those frigid Norwegian waters between sweats if you dare. After that, it’s time for our farewell dinner—so eat up and share some last laughs with your new friends. BOOK! Day 8 - Tromsø Heippa ​ And just like that, you’ve conquered Lapland. Fuel up on some much-needed caffeine in the rolling highlands as you learn the inner workings of one of the country’s most important industries, and then grab lunch with a view. That afternoon, we’ll hit the road again and ride toward endless golden savannahs pulsating with the promise of adventure. ​ Welcome to the legendary, magical, almost unspeakably moving Maasai Mara! We’ll spend the next three nights in a riverside camp near the Tanzanian border, so settle in, sit down for an early group dinner, and get ready for tomorrow’s adventure. witness Day 3 - Maasai Mara Wild Country Mornings in the Mara are something else. Imagine golden savannah light and crisp, clean air filled with the sounds of African wildlife. Don’t worry about setting an alarm—your new neighbors will let you know when it’s time to get up. ​ Today, we’re headed out on a full-day game drive in 4x4s, with safari guides leading the search for the Big Five (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard). The Mara’s sprawling grasslands are also home to giraffes, cheetahs, and watering holes that sustain more than 32,000 zebras and 37,000 wildebeests! ​ As the sun begins to set, we’ll head to camp for dinner and fireside stories underneath clear African skies. safari Day 4 - Maasai Mara Natural Habitat Rise and shine, and get ready for another day of feeling blissfully inconsequential as we hit the park for round two. ​ Today, we're heading deeper into these wild plains, past termite mounds that litter the horizon like miniature apartment blocks. We’ll drive through groves of Acacia Trees shading sunny landscapes, where evocatively named plants like the African Bushman's Hat, Whistling Thorn, and Torch Lily are constant reminders that these untamed grasslands are far, far from home. ​ Just make sure you keep your camera ready, in the Mara, you never know what’s around the next bend. We'll head back toward camp for another group dinner followed up by a campfire where you can argue over who's got the best shot at a Nat Geo cover photo. immerse Day 5 - Maasai Mara Warrior Culture Today, we’re switching gears from epic wildlife to warriors who share a deep connection with these famous landscapes. ​ We’ll head to a nearby camp to spend the day and night with a local Maasai tribe, the semi-nomadic community who’ve roamed the Mara for centuries. Immerse yourselves in this self-sustaining society as you learn about traditional beadwork, the symbolic meaning behind facial scars, and a warrior way of life. You’ll even get the chance to visit a school and discover what it’s like to grow up in the Kenyan savannah. For lunch, you'll enjoy a savory local dish called Okonomiyaki. Literally translating to "grilled as you like it," this Japanese-style omelet is one of our favorites in the entire country. The afternoon is yours to continue exploring the area, including the romantic island of Miyajima and its massive torii gate, or to head back to Kyoto at your own leisure. VENTURE * Day 4 - Kyoto Up for Anything Kyoto's full of magical shrines, temples, and forests, and today's free for you to explore them all with friends. You could head to the Nishiki Market for a fresh sushi lunch and then make your way over to the picturesque bamboo forest of Arashiyama. Or you could check out the sacred ceremonial spaces of the ancient Shimogamo-jinja Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (of course, there are 16 others in Kyoto!). In the evening, grab your new crew and head to the famous orange gates of Fushimi Inari Shrine for a beautiful sunset over the city. At night, continue the fun and take the party to Kyoto's funky little izakayas scattered throughout town. EXPLORE Day 5 - Nozawaonsen In the Onsen After breakfast in Kyoto, we’re hopping on a train and heading north through leafy-green countryside for Nagano prefecture and the magical mountain town of Nozawaonsen. With snow-capped winters and flower-filled summers, the scenery’s stunning year-round. A local guide will introduce you to the Stamp Trail—a uniquely Japanese journey leading you through meandering streets lined by Edo-era architecture and spiritual temples surrounded by three-hundred-year-old Japanese cedars. Mix in steaming pools at a mystical cooking onsen, and you’ll get the idea: in Nozawa, nature’s everywhere. Unwind with some local gin (made with Nozawa’s own crystal-clear freshwater) and then hop into an onsen yourself to round out the afternoon with the crew in relaxing style. That evening, we’ll kick back in our traditional Ryokan (which has been around for 18 generations!) for mouthwatering local delicacies and umami flavors. RETREAT Day 6 - Nozawaonsen, Tokyo Nature to Nightlife Breakfast is an authentic spread whipped up by our expert chef at the Ryokan, so eat up before you check out the rest of Nozawa. The inland city is older than the Portuguese capital and is also a UNESCO Heritage Site. With 4,000 shops of colorful spices, delicious teas, and gold jewelry, it’s one of the world’s largest and oldest shopping centers. ​ That afternoon, we’ll hop on a flight and head south to the geologically fascinating region of Cappadocia. This wild landscape with its towering stone pillars known as “fairy chimneys” has been sculpted by nature over the past 60 million years. Adventure Day 4 - Cappadocia Chiseled Chambers Get up early to witness the spectacular Cappadocia sunrise as colorful hot air balloons lift off over fairy chimneys. If you’re interested in joining the flying fun, we’ve got several excellent guides to point you to. ​ Later in the morning, we’ll ride through the Devrent Valley, where rock spires jut from the dry hillsides, on our way to Kaymakli, an incredible 8th-century subterranean city of narrow labyrinthine passageways and chambers winding eight levels down into the stone. ​ The afternoon is free before we all meet up for a local wine tasting and dinner to round out one spectacular day in Cappadocian paradise. DELIGHT Day 5 - Cappadocia Rockin’ Good Time If you regret not hopping onboard one of those balloons and drifting over fantasyland, well, you’ve got one more chance, so give it a go if you’re up for it. ​ However, if more sleep is in the cards, you can take the morning for yourself or meet up with friends for a hike through Pigeon Valley a few hours later. The easy trek will take you through fascinating rockscapes to the tiny town of Uchisar and its ancient castle built into mammoth tuff stone structures. Grab lunch with friends, and then we’ll head to the Goreme Open Air Museum to see churches and monasteries that were tirelessly chiseled hundreds of years ago. The evening is free for you to recharge back in town. explore Day 6 - Selcuk, Sirince charm & traditions We’ll take breakfast to-go as we head to catch a flight to the coastal city of Izmir. From there, it’s a short drive to Selcuk to check out a carpet workshop full of intricately designed pieces crafted from hand-spun wool and vegetable dyes. We’ll share lunch with the shop workers in the garden, and then we’re off to Sirince. ​ The afternoon and evening are free for you to explore this charming hillside town. With fantastic local vineyards throughout the region, we highly recommend popping in for a glass of wine whenever you have the chance. After that, grab a bite with friends before you call it a night. discover Day 7 - Sirince, Bodrum beach vibes Grab an early breakfast; we’ve got a big day ahead. We’re heading to see the Ephesus ruins, a sprawling archeological site dating from the 10th century BC that was once home to Greek, Byzantine, and Roman civilizations. ​ Next, we’re moving on to Bodrum, one of Turkey’s friendliest seaside enclaves. We figured you could use some R&R, so chill out with a drink along the picturesque bay, check out some great beachside bars, or chow down on some more of that Turkish Delight. ​ If you’ve still got some gas in the tank, explore the imposing Castle of St. Peter along the water or stop by the ruins of the Mausoleum of Mausolus, it’s one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Cruise Day 8 - Bodrum seas the day Let’s round out this trip in style and hit the high seas. Today, we’re heading out onto the sublime Gulf of Gokova aboard a Gulet, a traditional, Bodrum-built, multi-masted, wooden yacht (say that five times fast). You’ll have the opportunity to swim, snorkel, and soak up the sun in Mediterranean paradise. Grab a drink or two and lounge with your friends in the lap of luxury. It’s not a horrible way to round out an epic adventure. That evening we’ll all meet up for one last taste of Turkey. appreciate Day 9 - Bodrum Güle Güle Turkey We hope your trip’s been a real Turkish delight (and we can’t believe we waited this long to use that joke); unfortunately, it’s the end of the line. After one final breakfast at the hotel, the time has come to say goodbye to the amazing friends you made and head off to your next adventure. After some staggering landscapes on your ride over, you’ll get things started at the base of the Julian Alps as you nestle right into oh-so-beautiful Bled. ​ Settle into your hotel before we meet up for a traditional Slovenian welcome dinner at a local joint nearby. If you taste hints of something familiar, you’ve got the right idea. Slovenian cuisine tends to borrow the best of the best from nearby Italy, Austria, and Hungary. ​ So, eat up and share some laughs; you’ve made it to one of Europe’s most beautiful, off-the-beaten-track destinations. Discover Day 2 - Bled Best of Bled After grabbing a bite, it's time to soak up the sights of one of the continent's iconic natural beauties. ​ Meet up with the rest of the crew before we head to the lake for a cruise over to Bled Island. With the Alps as your mammoth green backdrop, we'll hop ashore for a bit of exploration and a local sweet-treat cooking class. We'll have lunch together back in town, and then, your afternoon is free. ​ We highly recommend trekking up to Bled Castle, the red-roofed medieval manor that hangs out on a rocky precipice over the lake. Grab a coffee with one epic view and bask in this 11th-century stronghold. After a day of lake-loving, the evening's free for you to unwind with friends. Day by day admire Day 3 - B led To the Mountain You've got the morning to relax and take in more of those epic sights before we head out to climb high for even better ones. ​ After a short ride, we'll hop out in Bohinj for a casual bite with towering lakeside views of the rugged Julian Alps (not exactly a horrible way to dine with friends). From there, things are only looking up…literally. We're going to ride the wild Vogel Mountain cable car for views that'll have you swearing in Slovenian. From a hair under a mile high, you'll look out over endless peaks, rugged pine forests, and the glassy glow of Lake Bohinj. ​ We’ll return to Bled in the afternoon, and the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Whether it's a lakeside stroll or a relaxing spa session, take your time to unwind and soak up more of Slovenia's unbeatable beauty. Drink Day 4 - Bled, Maribor River Walkers Lace-up those sneaks early; we’ve got a bit of adventure in store for ya today—we’re twisting our way through nearby Vintgar Gorge in Triglav National Park. Chiseled by the Radovna River, this 250-meter-deep crevice is one of Slovenia’s most loved natural wonders. Stroll along the elevated wooden pathway that hugs the craggy rock walls of this Slovenian showstopper and peer down to roaring blue-green rapids and waterfalls. From there, we’ll grab a coffee, and then we’re rolling on to the ancient riverside charmer, Maribor. Of course, before we get there, we’ll need a bite, so it only makes sense to stop off at a picturesque local farm for a mouthwatering taste of the countryside with the nicest family around. That evening, we’ll wind into Slovenia’s second city. Wander Day 5 - Maribor, Ljubljan a Wine Time Grab a bite in the hotel; you’ll need the fuel and the base layer. Today’s all about sampling some of Slovenia’s grapey goods, so let’s get things started in the misty rolling hills outside of town for our first taste paired exquisitely with countryside views. We’ll hit up a vineyard that’s been producing some of the country’s finest wines since the 1800s as we discover what makes this region so great for a glass of red or white. Of course, one vineyard just won’t cut it, so after an intro, we’re moving on to a second winery for lunch and another tasting. ​ Now that we’ve perfected our palettes, it’s time to ride off to Ljubljana for our first taste of the capital. Drop your bags at the hotel and then head out with the crew for a bite to welcome you to town. Relax Day 6 - Ljubljana country Cuisine Say good morning to the big city...well, the biggest city in Slovenia, that is. Ljubljana may not be Europe’s largest capital, but we assure you, what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in atmosphere and character. ​ You’ll be getting a taste of the local, the natural, the wild, and the delicious as you head out into Slovenia’s captivating countryside today. We’ll meet up with our very own outdoorsman extraordinaire, and then we’ll wander into the wilderness for a midday hike to forage wild herbs. It’s all part of our culinary quest—after hitting the woods, we’ll head to the kitchen to learn how to whip up a meal from our bounty under the watchful eye of our adventurous chef. In the afternoon, head back to town, explore the capital’s Renaissance-infused streets, and grab dinner and drinks with friends. Hike Day 7 - Ljubljana Ljubljana loungin' Grab an early breakfast or catch up on some rest; today's all about appreciating this absurdly beautiful capital. ​ In the morning, you'll have the option of joining a cruise of the Ljubljanica River and a walking tour to take it all in. With romantic stone bridges and nature that seeps into the city at every corner, it's easy to fall hard for lovely Ljubljana. If you're in the market for souvenirs for friends back home, stroll down to Plečnik's Market between the Triple and Dragon bridges. Or, if you're after more nature, consider organizing a day trip to the karst wonderland of Postojna Cave and the impressive stone 16th-century Predjama Castle. Get back to the capital by the evening before we all head out for one final bite of Slovenia and a few more bottles of wine to toast to our fellow travel mates as we bid this beautiful country farewell.
