We even send out a roster of everyone on the trip, so you know who your travel buddies will be. Let us handle the logistics while you get lost in the beauty of travel - in the daring feats, the funny encounters, the mouthwatering cuisines, the novelty, and the unknown. These are not perfectly pre-scripted, every minute scheduled "group tours." The iceland w inter TRIP For the love of CHASING WATERFALLS NORTHERN LIGHTS BLACK SAND BEACHES CROSSING GLACIERS BRENNIVIN REYKJAVIK COLORS LAGOON LOUNGIN' VIKING LEGENDS ICELAND DAY BY DAY TRIP NOTES REVIEWS LEARN MORE SEE DATES & BOOK WHAT TO EXPECT Welcome to our wildest adventure yet. There’s outdoor fun, and then there’s outdoor fun Icelandic style. If you’re up for lounging in hot springs, conquering snow-covered lava fields, and trekking along volcanic beaches, head north with us for the ultimate winter adventure. First stop, Reykjavik—from colorful homes to street art, and oddly endearing hardcore metal shows, it’s a city full of surprises. It’s also the only place we know of with both fermented shark and world-renowned hot dogs on the menu. After exploring the capital, we’ll head south to wander iceberg-studded, obsidian beaches ripped from the pages of fantasy novels. So come along and slug down some Brennivin beneath the northern lights, find your footing in the mist of cascading falls, and reach out to blue ceilings of frozen rolling waves in glacial ice caves. 2024 2025 5 days/4 nights starting at $2,799 USD Limited single room upgrades starting from $659 are available and can be added during booking, subject to availability. Check out the Church of Hallgrimskirkja or Laugavegur, the central shopping district, and come to terms with the fact that Duolingo didn’t adequately prepare you for Icelandic pronunciations. After that, consider popping over to the nearby Blue Lagoon and relaxing in the steamy lap of luxury. In the afternoon, we’ll meet up for a private food tour that just so happens to be the highest-rated culinary adventure in the entire city. Get a base layer of unique Icelandic eats in you, and then dabble in some Brennivin, the country’s iconic distilled beverage. Known lovingly as “Black Death,” it should get you going for a night on the town. Head out with new friends; the evening is yours to enjoy. ARRIVE Day 2 – Reykjavik to Vik Glacial crossing After a bite with the team at the hotel, we’re headed south to vast, sparsely inhabited terrain. We’ll stop at Seljalandsfoss and hike into the gorge behind the 200-foot waterfall before continuing on and checking out the Dyrhólaey viewpoint. This arching rock formation juts into the sea, providing incredible views of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, black volcanic beaches, and lava sea stacks off Reynisfjara. We’ll grab lunch together, surrounded by imposing rock walls in the tiny town of Vik, and then we’re off to Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon to step into soaring landscapes so surreal they’d make Tolkien jealous. Eventually, we’ll wind our way to our hotel beneath remote looming mountains, where we'll sit down for a traditional Icelandic dinner together and kick back beneath those endless Icelandic stars. Marvel Day 3 – Southern Iceland Blues & greens Eat up; we’ve got a big day ahead. We’re moving on east to check out the towering, jagged icebergs floating through the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and then to Diamond Beach to stroll between the mammoth, sparkling chunks of ice that sprinkle black volcanic sands. We’ll grab some grub and refuel with the team, and then we’re off on a Jeep and walking tour of the ice caves in Breiðamerkurjökull and Vatnajokull (and no, we can’t pronounce those either). The undulating blues and greens of these sprawling caverns may only be outdone by the northern lights, which we should get a glimpse of tonight at our secluded accommodation near Vik. Grab dinner with friends; you’ve got another free night to take it all in. trek * Day 4 – Reykjavik Viking treasure After breakfast at the hotel, we're northbound to Reykjavik once more. Along the way, we'll stop and check out the sprawling Skogafoss Falls, where, as the legend says, Vikings hid ancient treasure before sealing it off with magic. Take a look for yourself and see if the waters sparkle with gold or diamonds. We’ll hit up the hot springs at Sky Lagoon for lunch and one last sizzling adventure before we arrive in Reykjavik, and then we’ll regroup in the city for a final dinner altogether. If you’re feeling up to it, head off on a pub crawl with friends to go out in style. unwind Say your goodbyes over breakfast with the group before you fly. If you've got a later flight, do some more Reykjavik exploring. The city's full of fascinating architecture, arts, and culture. Take a walk down to the waterfront to check out the Harpa, the glass building that plays host to concerts and shows throughout the year, explore the Old Harbor, or take in the views over by the Grotta Lighthouse. Got more vacation time to spare? Grab a rental car and keep on driving the island or even consider heading out on a whale watching tour. Day 5 – Reykjavik farewell "You cannot rob me of free nature’s grace. You cannot shut the windows of the sky through which Aurora shows her brightening face…” - James Thomson FAST FACTS Fast facts JUST FOR FUN Reykjavik is the northernmost capital in the world and home to more than one third of the Icelandic population. Storytelling, myth, and legend are hugely important in Icelandic culture and many people still believe in trolls and elves to this day. Brennivin is Iceland’s most famous distilled alcohol. It’s made from fermented grain mash, high-ph water, and caraway. TRIP NOTES While we can’t guarantee private rooms on your Iceland vacation, you sho uld book your trip earlier if you prefer one, as they usually fill up. We’ll have an excellent opportunity to see the northern lights, but they’re not always visible. Iceland is a small country, but the weather can change fast, so be prepared with your wardrobe. On European trips, we stay as close to historic city centers as possible. This means your accommodations will often be on the small side, quirky, and unique (we love this!). Due to the potential for inclement weather in the winter months, certain locations may be impassable and swapped out for different experiences. Travelers on the New Years Eve trip should budget an additional $300. The New Year’s trip includes an additional night in Reykjavik, an added group lunch, and a special New Year’s Eve dinner. Travelers on this trip will visit Sky Lagoon the day after they return to the capital instead of on the way back from southern Iceland. Please note the NYE trip has an extra night to celebrate New Years Eve and New Years Day. It's a 5 night / 6 day trip with a new price of $3,799. There are some long drives on this trip (5 hours) but filled with stunning views and broken up by interesting stops. Ensure your passport is valid for 3-months after your return date. All activities are weather dependent; in the unlikely event that we are unable to run an activity, we will have a suitable alternative in place. More information regarding visa requirements and Covid restrictions can be found here . About iceland Iceland was first settled by Norwegians back in the 800s. The country sits atop the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, directly above several volcanoes. This, in turn, provides numerous benefits when it comes to an energy source, as more than 25% of the country can run on geothermal power. The rest of the country runs on hydropower, meaning the nation is on 100% renewable energy. GOOD TO KNOW Iceland’s official currency is the Icelandic Krona. The country ranks number 1 on the Global Peace Index. The country’s national language is Icelandic. In the summer, Iceland sees little to no darkness. Conversely, in the winter there are only a few hours of sunlight. This is an out-of-this-world destination where adventure’s found around every corner. In Reykjavik—the capital city—it all starts with the food. After dropping your bags and getting to know the crew, you'll head out on our street eats tour to try eight distinctively Icelandic dishes. You’ll be surprised at what’s on the summer menu; even Iceland has its variation of warm weather classics like local hot dogs and homemade ice cream from secret family recipes. Grab some drinks with your new friends and stay out a bit too late. In summertime, this place is alive and energetic, and because of the latitude, the sun might not set until midnight or later. Taste Day 2 - Golden Circle/Reykholt Golden View After a bit of rest (hopefully); today, we're leaving the capital to check out the world-famous Golden Circle. From Thingvellir to Gullfoss and Geysir, it’s hard not to feel tiny compared to these endless landscapes. Kick off the day walking through Viking hillsides where rocky canyons, split by drifting tectonic plates, cut through the country. From there, we'll grab lunch together at a family-owned greenhouse and learn how the locals live off the land. We’ll continue along the route to marvel at steaming geysers shooting a hundred feet up, tiered waterfalls crashing down, and raw landscapes torn open by thousands of years of earthquakes that'll leave you speechless. End the day at a group dinner, where almost every item on the entire menu is made from scratch. gallop Day 3 - Selfoss Majestic Manes Get an early bite in before we roll on toward the lava fields and open country of Selfoss. After learning about Iceland's stocky brand of horse, hop in the saddle and ride out across mossy hillsides before we set out on foot to chase waterfalls. With unreal vast viewpoints all along the way, you'll probably feel like you've been dropped into a scene straight out of Game of Thrones; after all, the show used Iceland for many of its locations! We'll stop for lunch at one of the oldest food halls in town, and then the rest of the day is yours to explore freely. Wander around Selfoss or unwind in the town's geothermal pool. trek Day 4 - Reykjavik Lava & Lagoons Today, we're heading underground for a whole new view of Iceland as we explore the inner workings of a lava tube. After leaving Selfoss, we'll hike through an almost mile-long tunnel of basaltic rock, an otherworldly geological wonder sculpted by the lava flow of a 5,000-year-old eruption. We'll need some Icelandic sun after our subterranean journey, so up next, head to Reykjavik's sizzling Sky Lagoon for the most relaxing swim on the island. Rejuvenating springs, spas, and thermal pools are social hubs in Iceland that reflect the harmony between the people and the geothermal resources; this one, with its rocky grottos and deep-blue infinity pool, heats up to over 100 degrees! The afternoon's free for you to check out some of the capital's cool street art before we all meet up for an Icelandic farewell dinner. Explore Day 5 - Reykjavik End of an Adventure Summer in Iceland is a treat of epic nature lit up by endless sun. The country is alive with wildlife, wildflowers, and the most mild weather you’ll see all year. After saying your goodbyes, head to the airport and start planning your next adventure. On the other hand, if you've got more time to explore, consider heading out to Iceland's less visited east, try whale watching off the south coast, or hop a flight to mainland Europe for some Croatian beach fun (Pro tip: check out Iceland's stopover program for amazing flight deals). Thanks for coming along to soak up the North Atlantic sun. That's a wrap! Both countries are home to some of the most photogenic places on earth. The Irish diaspora is an incredible thing. Scotland’s population comes in just a hair lower at 5.5 million, a figure overshadowed by the local sheep population by more than a million. Good to know Ireland’s official languages are Irish and English while Scotland’s is English. Accents in both countries can take quite a bit of getting used to. Ireland uses the Euro while Scotland is on the Pound sterling. Irish surnames that start in “Mac” mean “son of” while those that start in “O” mean “grandson of.” Weather (especially on the Atlantic coast) can be predictably unpredictable, so make sure to pack a waterproof jacket and some warm clothes. the lapland trip For the love of SNOW SPORTS NORTHERN LIGHTS ADVENTURE POLAR PLUNGING STEAMY SAUNAS ENDLESS NATURE WINTER WONDERLAND RUGGED TUNDRA SPIKED HOT CHOCOLATE LAPLAND DAY BY DAY TRIP NOTES REVIEWS LEARN MORE SEE DATES & BOOK WHAT TO EXPECT Our small group trip to Lapland caters to travelers in their 20s and 30s looking to hunt the northern lights in Norway, snowmobile across Sweden, and dog sled through Finland. On this once-in-a-lifetime trip, you'll float beneath the stars in pools of ice, cuddle gregarious huskies, sleep in glass igloos, and make life-long friends in remotely beautiful landscapes. A mix of thrilling experiences by day and hot toddy bonding in local watering holes by night (after your daily sauna fix, of course), it’s an adventure like no other, one designed for all the intrepid spirits out there. It involves more moving around than some of our other trips and longer drives, but the scenery is captivating, so you can kick back and unwind. While we’ve included epic activities in each destination, you'll have more than enough time to explore the wonderful towns of Lapland on your own as well. 8 days/7 nights Starting at $5,4 99 USD Limited single room upgrades starting from $799 are available and can be added during booking, subject to availability. If you get there early and you’re not in need of a nap, head out past traditional Finnish homes for a midday stroll through the charming city center. This is, of course, the home of jolly ole Saint Nick, so for some added magic, you can even check out Santa’s village and hop on a sleigh ride into the forest. In the evening, we’ll meet up for welcome drinks before our first taste of Lapland cuisine at our welcome dinner. Congrats, you’ve made it to the capital capital of Finnish Lapland and the entrance to the Arctic Circle! *Please note that this trip now starts in Rovaniemi sled Day 2 - Rovaniemi join the pack Get up and get ready for some fun; today, we’re finding the Lapland spirit by heading out into the rugged wilderness on a husky ride for the ultimate cold weather thrill. Harness your pack of pups, wind through pine forests and over frozen lakes, and take in the winter wonderland with the best Lapland guides around. Afterward, we’ll return for some lingonberry juice and much-needed and much-appreciated puppy playtime. In the evening, you’ll zip up in ridiculous (but warm!) dry suits to go ice floating beneath those endless Lapland stars, and if we're lucky, the Northern Lights will put on one of their spectacular shows. FLOAT Day 3 - Sinetta in glass houses Get up early to check out Santa’s village if you haven’t seen it yet, or head out on a morning snowshoe for some final Rovaniemi views. After that, we’re hitting the road and winding north for the glass igloos of Sinettä. Spend the afternoon sipping cocktails by the ice bar, then throw things back to a simpler time, head for the hills, pop on a sled, and set arctic-speed records. That evening, you can slow things down a notch and unwind in a private sauna, or, if you want more of that great outdoors, hop in one of the hot tubs to soak up Lapland’s beauty. In the evening, we’ll all get together for a group dinner and a taste of the Arctic. When it’s time to hit the hay, take it all in through the glass roof of your igloo hotel; weather permitting, you may even get your own private aurora borealis dance overhead—not a bad way to round off the day. Gaze Day 4 - Kiruna ON TO SWEDEN Say goodbye to Finland, it’s time to make our way to Kiruna, a mining town and the northernmost city in all of Sweden. After we drop our bags, it’s time for a bit of authentic indigenous culture—we’re taking a deep dive into the life of the Sami people, discovering how they survived the Arctic, and eating a traditional lunch (reindeer steaks by the fire, anyone?). This entire region has great snowpack for more than seven months of the year and massive expanses of wilderness to enjoy, so it's no surprise it’s become one of Lapland's premier destinations. Grab a bite with friends in the evening, and then, if you're lucky, you'll spot those magical northern lights once more. cruise Day 5 - Kiruna SNOWMOBILING No Lapland adventure is complete with a fair share of winter sports, so suit up, it's time to roll out into the great outdoors for some snowmobiling fun with our favorite Viking guides. Head out into the Swedish wilderness and ride on until you reach a cabin in the middle of nowhere. With the crew, you'll try some local delicacies (reindeer tongue, anyone?) and warm up before you hop back on your trusty ride and wind back along a new route home. The afternoon and evening are free to try cross country skiing, catch the arctic sunset, or head to the one English pub in town to mingle with the locals. Connect Day 6 - Tromsø Velkommen We’ll be heading out on the road again today, this time toward Tromsø, Norway, one of Lapland's cultural hubs. Framed by snowy peaks, surrounded by arctic waterways, and filled with historic wooden homes, this is one magical Norwegian destination. That evening, we'll all head out for drinks and a tour of what just may be the northernmost brewery on the whole planet. With more than enough taps to choose from, it's one fine way to say hey to Norway. After a few pints, hit the town with the crew as you keep your eyes peeled for more of that green magic in the sky. RELAX Day 7 - Tromsø Sauna at Sea After a bite, we’re all going to roll out together and spend the morning checking out the town on a private tour. You’ll have some free time before we get back together later in the afternoon, so keep exploring if you’re up to it. Try some local Norwegian specialties (hello, whale meat!) and grab a drink with the locals. Head to the water for a floating sauna session before dinner and dive into those frigid Norwegian waters between sweats if you dare. After that, it’s time for our farewell dinner—so eat up and share some last laughs with your new friends. BOOK! Day 8 - Tromsø Heippa And just like that, you’ve conquered Lapland. We hope you had one incredible time; this is a special place, and we really do love it. We recommend scheduling a later flight, so you have time to continue exploring the city of Tromsø. If you're one of the lucky ones and have got a few more days for adventuring, keep on going—Lapland and Scandinavia have tons to offer. With the rest of the crew, you're going to paint like a local and try your hand at some azulejo art. The afternoon's free to wander the hills, and then you'll trade dinner for something a bit more fun as you explore the city's character and charm with a food and wine walking tour through one of Lisbon's trendiest neighborhoods. Day by day explore Day 3 - Lisbon / Sintra High class Today, we’re hopping on the train to Sintra. In the cool mountain air, you’ll set out on tuk-tuks and twist between homes, shops, palaces, and castles that date to the Middle Ages. After checking out the Romanticist architecture of the Pena Palace from a mountaintop viewpoint, we’re heading into the stone spectacle of Quinta da Regaleira, arguably Sintra’s most impressive palace. Wander the gardens and then twist down into the Initiation Well to explore the spine-tinglingly spectacular underground grottos. You’ll have lunch with friends before heading back to Lisbon. The evening is yours to explore the artsy enclave of Alfama; no one will judge you if you set out for more wine. savor Day 4 - Lisbon Unwind After a day twisting up and down Sintra’s hills, it’s time to unwind—the day is yours to chill out or head off exploring with friends. If you decide to stay in the city, consider hopping in a cab to the north of town and checking out the National Tile Museum. Housed in an ancient convent that was restored after being reduced to rubble in the earthquake of 1755, this colorful stop has numerous exhibits showcasing azulejo, or the traditional tile work found all over Portugal. If you’re in the mood for a beach day, head to the Cais do Sodré train station and take the short ride to the resort town of Cascais for an afternoon in the sand. wander Day 5 - Lisbon / Evora Back in time After breakfast, it’s time to get cooking. Rich, crumbly custard tarts are on the menu. A specialty in the region, these savory pastries, known locally as pastéis de nata, are smooth on the inside and crispy on the outside. Then, it’s time to head out on the road toward Evora. The inland city is older than the Portuguese capital and is also a UNESCO Heritage Site. Spend the afternoon walking back in time on a guided tour of streets and alleys once inhabited by the Celts, Romans, Moors, and Visigoths. You’ll even stroll through the hauntingly beautiful Chapel of Bones, a 16th-century skeletal structure built by Franciscan monks. After your deep dive into ancient times, head to a group dinner, and if you’ve still got the energy, follow it up with some fun and bar-hopping. play Day 6 - Evora / Algarve beachbound Fuel up on breakfast at the hotel in Evora before driving south to the Algarve, Portugal’s most spectacular beach region. It’s a bit of a hike and this is Portugal after all, so we’ll pop off at a vineyard on the way down, and you can pop into some more of that famous Portuguese wine if you so desire (and if you feel up to it after a night at the bars). We’ll get down to the Algarve by mid-afternoon, where you’ll check into your digs by the beach. Take the afternoon to soak up the sun or hop into the dazzling blue sea as it laps at the shore. enjoy Day 7 - Algarve to the sea Get out on the water and start exploring! The endlessly beautiful coast of the Algarve is made up of jagged limestone walls and staggering caves chiseled by the sea. You’ll explore it all on a private, day-long boating adventure. Lunch will be prepared on board, so the day truly belongs to you. Lounge with friends, swim through the balmy waters, and explore the remarkable rocky coast of Southern Portugal. In the evening, we’ll all meet up for one final night of fun at our farewell dinner. BOOK! Day 8 - Algarve farewell Today is our last day in Portugal. We’ll share one final breakfast together before we all go our separate ways. If you prefer to stick around to explore a bit on your own (which we recommend!), the hotel will be happy to store your bags. If you're after more European fun beyond Portugal, head to Northern Spain and the Basque Country for amazing cuisine or to Sardinia for golden beach vibes! “Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all of one’s lifetime.” – Mark Twain FAST FACTS Just for Fun The Portuguese town of Nazare holds the record for the world’s largest wave ever surfed.
