Your questions answered Heading 1 ABOUT FTLO BOOKING LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS TRIP PREP ON A TRIP HEALTH ON TRIPS About FAQs ABOUT FTLO FAQs What is FTLO all about? Why join an FTLO trip? Who goes on FTLO trips? What's up with Gal spots and Guy spots? Is an FTLO Trip right for me? Are these luxury trips? How big are groups? Are FTLO trips suitable for LGBTQIA+ travelers? Ok, I'm in. Now what? What is FTLO? 1. what is ftlo all about? The name pretty much sums it up. We started For The Love of Travel, for the love of travel - for the incredible, life-changing experiences, the magical moments, the forever memories, and the endless smiles that traveling creates. And we wanted to make it easier for busy young people to do more of it in an authentic, sustainable way. Travel isn't something you can only do on a gap year or when you're retired. We see it as an integral part of life- a necessary and continuing education that deserves as much devotion as academia. We curate fun, well-rounded itineraries and take care of the major details to give you more time to explore, experience, learn and connect with the people around you and places you're in. That way, you can have an authentic cultural experience and a vacation. Why join FTLO? 2. Why join an FTLO trip? Fun. You'll be spending a week or moreexploring a foreign country while getting to know a bunch of cool people your age. It's a blast. Hassle-free. We've already taken care of the logistics so you don't have to spend hours planning or waste your vacation time dealing with unforeseen issues, spending money you didn't budget for, or stressing about, well, anything. Insider knowledge. We already know the best spots, how to get there, and what's cool about them. This means you don't have to spend your time abroad on your phone looking up Yelp reviews and reading Wikipedia. A crew. Solo travel is great but it's a blast to travel with a group of fun people. At the same time, we know how hard it is to plan international travel with friends. Between varying work schedules, budgets, and personalities, it can be super frustrating to try to organize trips with multiple people. Going on an FTLO trip means you'll be traveling with up to 14 people around your age, all open to meeting new friends, trying new things, and having a good time. No pressure. FTLO allows you to travel with a group of people without the pressure of feeling like you have to do everything together. You can spend the whole day wandering around by yourself and still have people to get dinner with at the end of the day. Even if you sign up with friends, it's easier for you to break away on your own for a bit in a group setting like this. 3. Who goes on FTLO trips? Our trips are designed for individuals aged 25-39 who are looking to travel more and meet like-minded people along the way. We get a lot of questions about who goes on our trips so here is breakdown of what to expect: Average age: 30 (most fall between 27 and 34) 80% go alone 70-80% women, 20-30% men (Note: the ratio really doesn't affect overall trip enjoyment!) 60% say they are single and looking to mingle 75% live in big cities 100% want to travel and meet new people The most important thing to know is that everyone on our trips chooses to be there, so you already know they are most likely outgoing, open to new experiences, looking to meet new people, and ready to have a good time. FTLO Community 4. What's up with Gal spots and Guy spots? We do this for rooming planning purposes and to strive for a balanced mix on our trips, which is why we hold a certain number of spots for those who tends to book later (ahem, guys). That said, we have little control over the final ratio and do open up guy spots to gals (and vice versa) the closer we get to the departure date. If spots are sold out, we definitely recommend signing up for the waitlist! Note: We welcome all genders on our trips. For anyone who doesn't fall into the guy/gal categories, please know this distinction is mainly to help us plan accommodations so just select the option you would feel more comfortable rooming with. Note: At the end of the day, the gender makeup really doesn't affect trip enjoyment. There are always locals to flirt with if that's what you're looking for :) Gal and Guy spots 5. Is an FTLO Trip right for me? Our trips are right for you if: You're social, independent, curious, and fun-loving You're interested in getting out of your comfort zone and trying new things You can go with the flow, even when the unexpected occurs You’re inclusive and enjoy meeting new people Our trips are not right for you if: You're difficult, rude, or mean You complain a lot You’re disrespectful or dismissive of other cultures You have severe social anxiety You're not open to new experiences is FTLO right for you 6. Are these luxury trips? No, our trips are not luxury, but they're not budget either. We're right in the middle, with enough experience to know when it makes sense to save and when it's worth it to splurge. (i.e. we might stay in a more basic hotel for a couple of nights so we can include a Michelin worthy meal and a private catamaran ride). Is this a luxury trip GET STARTED Group size? 7. How big are groups? FTLO trips run with between 5 and 15 people and have an average group size of 10. We cap the number of people on each trip to cultivate a sense of community without making you feel like you're part of a herd. Plus, smaller numbers allow us to assimilate more easily into the local community. 8. Are FTLO trips suitable for LGBTQIA+ travelers? At FTLO, we believe that acceptance and inclusivity are paramount when it comes to travel. We appreciate that our diverse community of travelers includes individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community, and we want travelers of all sexual orientations and gender identities to feel comfortable and respected throughout their journey. With that said, we encourage you to stay informed about LGBTQIA+ rights in the destinations you plan to visit, as they may differ from one country to the next. The unfortunate reality is that not every region of the world is as welcoming as we would like. We recommend visiting Equaldex for information regarding LGBTQIA+-related laws around the globe. On trips, FTLO has a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination, verbal or physical abuse, and sexual harassment. If you encounter any inappropriate behavior during your trip (from fellow travelers, leaders, or partners), please immediately inform your trip leader or FTLO HQ through the pre-departure hub our operations email - support@ftlotravel.com . For roommate pairings, we pair you based on the spot type you select in your booking form (gal or guy). We also have single room supplements available for each trip (except the South Africa trip) if you would prefer a single room. This can be added to your order during the checkout process. If you have specific questions about rooming before you book a trip, please reach out to one of our community managers at hello@ftlotravel.com . We believe that by fostering an environment of respect and understanding, we can enhance the joy and connection that comes from exploring the world together. Inclusivity 9. Ok, I'm in. Now what? Great! Once you've decided which trip you want to join, click the "book" button on the trip page. Skinny canal houses line cobblestone streets, and a never-ending stream of bicycles pop out from every bend. You’ll spend your first day in town on a luxury canal cruise with your new crew, sipping wine, tasting Dutch cheese, and getting a glimpse of it all—no better way to say hello to the capital. Welcome to Amsterdam! That night, we’ll all sit down to a welcome dinner and dine like the Dutch Dukes. Then, head out for a drink; even if beer’s not your go-to, a Heineken’s in the cards tonight. drink Day 2 - Amsterdam Bike then Booze With more bicycles than people, Amsterdam is a clean, smog-free city ripe for riding, and today's all about navigating like a local. With our expert guide leading the pack, wind through the hip and trendy Jordaan neighborhood. Snake through peaceful cobblestone streets and over centuries-old bridges. Discover cafe culture, laid-back vibes, arts, and a society famous for tolerance and acceptance. And then head off on your own: consider a picnic in leafy green Vondelpark or sniff out the sweet scents of the famous flower market. Later on, we'll get together at a local rum distillery where you’ll craft your very own botanical blend. And then as the sun (and rum) go down, we’ll keep the good times rolling and head out to hit the bars and clubs—local nightlife is famous for a reason, and in the summer, the excitement spills out onto terraces and outdoor patios. devour Day 3 - Amsterdam A Gouda Time If that night on the town went a little late, take the morning for some R&R before you meet up with the rest of the crew around midday. From Gouda to Edam (both are named after nearby towns), in the Netherlands, dairy plays an outsized role in culture and age-old traditions. Today, we’ll taste our way across the country with a cross-sample of delicious local bites—from the creamy to the smooth, the buttery, even the smoky; we’ll try them all. The afternoon is free for everyone to explore one (or two) of Amsterdam’s impressive museums: fall in love with Van Gogh’s sunflowers or learn a powerful, moving story in the famous Anne Frank House. That evening, we’ll all get together to cap off our Amsterdam escape over a farewell dinner and perhaps a Heineken or Amstel to celebrate in local style. connect Day 4 - Amsterdam DAM that was fast Well, that went by a bit too fast. But that’s not so surprising; after all, when you’re having fun, time flies. And Amsterdam’s just about as fun as they come. In four short days, you’ve cruised through miles of UNESCO waterways and cycled the city. You’ve tried Dutch specialties in trendy tree-lined neighborhoods with a whole crew of amazing new friends and soaked up local life all along the way. If you’ve got more time to travel, Europe’s got a lot to show you. Consider three more capitals in three different nations on FTLO’s Scandinavia trip, or head south for epic natural beauty in Slovenia. cruise Fast facts “I think Amsterdam is to Holland what New York is to America in a sense. It’s a metropolis, so it’s representative of Holland, but only a part of it – you know, it’s more extreme, there’s more happening, it’s more liberal and more daring than the countryside in Holland is.” – Anton Corbijn FAST FACTS Just for fun Amsterdam’s canalside homes lean forward. They were built this way on purpose so heavy furniture wouldn’t crash into the facades when being winched up. Amsterdam has more museums per capita than any other city on earth. Heineken (1864) is six years older than its cross-town rival, Amstel (1870). Trip notes There are limited single rooms available on our Amsterdam trips. Book early if you prefer one, as they usually fill up. The museums in Amsterdam are incredible, which make them incredibly popular. If you’d like to visit any of them, it’s best to book tickets at least a few weeks in advance. More information regarding visa requirements and Covid restrictions on the Amsterdam trip can be found here . SEE DATES & BOOK LEARN MORE about amsterdam Amsterdam’s origins trace back to the 13th century when it emerged as a fishing village along the Amstel River, before growing into a global trade hub by the 1600s. The city is renowned for its artistic legacy, and is home to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Rembrandt House Museum. With a diverse culinary scene, from traditional Dutch dishes to global flavors, and eclectic nightlife, spanning Leidseplein's bustling clubs, Jordaan's intimate bars, and the historic ambiance of the Red Light District, the city today is as dynamic as it is timeless and beautiful. Slovenian cuisine tends to borrow the best of the best from nearby Italy, Austria, and Hungary. So, eat up and share some laughs; you’ve made it to one of Europe’s most beautiful, off-the-beaten-track destinations. Discover Day 2 - Bled Best of Bled After grabbing a bite, it's time to soak up the sights of one of the continent's iconic natural beauties. Meet up with the rest of the crew before we head to the lake for a cruise over to Bled Island. With the Alps as your mammoth green backdrop, we'll hop ashore for a bit of exploration and a local sweet-treat cooking class. Day by day admire Day 3 - B led To the Mountain You've got the morning to relax and take in more of those epic sights before we head out to climb high for even better ones. After a short ride, we'll hop out in Bohinj for a casual bite with towering lakeside views of the rugged Julian Alps (not exactly a horrible way to dine with friends). From there, things are only looking up…literally. We're going to ride the wild Vogel Mountain cable car for views that'll have you swearing in Slovenian. From a hair under a mile high, you'll look out over endless peaks, rugged pine forests, and the glassy glow of Lake Bohinj. We’ll return to Bled in the afternoon, and the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Whether it's a lakeside stroll or a relaxing spa session, take your time to unwind and soak up more of Slovenia's unbeatable beauty. Drink Day 4 - Bled, Maribor River Walkers Lace-up those sneaks early; we’ve got a bit of adventure in store for ya today—we’re twisting our way through nearby Vintgar Gorge in Triglav National Park. Chiseled by the Radovna River, this 250-meter-deep crevice is one of Slovenia’s most loved natural wonders. Stroll along the elevated wooden pathway that hugs the craggy rock walls of this Slovenian showstopper and peer down to roaring blue-green rapids and waterfalls. From there, we’ll grab a coffee, and then we’re rolling on to the ancient riverside charmer, Maribor. Of course, before we get there, we’ll need a bite, so it only makes sense to stop off at a picturesque local farm for a mouthwatering taste of the countryside with the nicest family around. That evening, we’ll wind into Slovenia’s second city. Wander Day 5 - Maribor, Ljubljan a Wine Time Grab a bite in the hotel; you’ll need the fuel and the base layer. Today’s all about sampling some of Slovenia’s grapey goods, so let’s get things started in the misty rolling hills outside of town for our first taste paired exquisitely with countryside views. We’ll hit up a vineyard that’s been producing some of the country’s finest wines since the 1800s as we discover what makes this region so great for a glass of red or white. Of course, one vineyard just won’t cut it, so after an intro, we’re moving on to a second winery for lunch and another tasting. Now that we’ve perfected our palettes, it’s time to ride off to Ljubljana for our first taste of the capital. Drop your bags at the hotel and then head out with the crew for a bite to welcome you to town. Relax Day 6 - Ljubljana country Cuisine Say good morning to the big city...well, the biggest city in Slovenia, that is. Ljubljana may not be Europe’s largest capital, but we assure you, what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in atmosphere and character. You’ll be getting a taste of the local, the natural, the wild, and the delicious as you head out into Slovenia’s captivating countryside today. We’ll meet up with our very own outdoorsman extraordinaire, and then we’ll wander into the wilderness for a midday hike to forage wild herbs. It’s all part of our culinary quest—after hitting the woods, we’ll head to the kitchen to learn how to whip up a meal from our bounty under the watchful eye of our adventurous chef. In the afternoon, head back to town, explore the capital’s Renaissance-infused streets, and grab dinner and drinks with friends. Hike Day 7 - Ljubljana Ljubljana loungin' Grab an early breakfast or catch up on some rest; today's all about appreciating this absurdly beautiful capital. In the morning, you'll have the option of joining a cruise of the Ljubljanica River and a walking tour to take it all in. With romantic stone bridges and nature that seeps into the city at every corner, it's easy to fall hard for lovely Ljubljana. If you're in the market for souvenirs for friends back home, stroll down to Plečnik's Market between the Triple and Dragon bridges. Or, if you're after more nature, consider organizing a day trip to the karst wonderland of Postojna Cave and the impressive stone 16th-century Predjama Castle. Get back to the capital by the evening before we all head out for one final bite of Slovenia and a few more bottles of wine to toast to our fellow travel mates as we bid this beautiful country farewell. BOOK! Day 8 - Ljubljana Nasvide nje It's time to say goodbye to the crew, so grab one more laugh with breakfast before you roll out. This trip may be in the books, but all that means is that it's the perfect time to start planning your next adventure. If you've got extra time in Europe, consider popping over to the Basque Country for some of our favorite eats in the entire world, down to Crete for epic seaside views, or to the Tuscan hills for more wine in paradise. Thanks for coming, and keep on exploring—there's always more of the world to see. “As you travel around Slovenia, think of the tales the hills could tell you. Share the awe of natural wonder; tread the trails, but as you wander honor the age-old endeavors to be literate, informed, democratic and free.” - Jacqueline Widmar Stewart FAST FACTS Fast Facts Just for fun There are only 2.6 million people in Slovenia, but there are 46 (!) dialects spoken. Slovenians love wine. By some estimations, there’s a vineyard for every 70 people. More than 53% of land is protected in Slovenia. That’s the second most in the entire world! Trip notes While we can’t guarantee private rooms, you sho uld book your trip earlier if you prefer one, as they usually fill up. Summer in Slovenia can be quite warm and sunny, so pack accordingly. Fly out of Ljubljana (LJU) We recommend flying out of Ljubljana or extending your trip and enjoying a few more days in Slovenia. Want to check out flights for your trip? Give your Italian a go with the local artisans, and grab a mid-morning espresso (or two, we’re not counting) as you check out the sights. Around noon, we’ll head out about an hour to Matera, stopping for lunch in the countryside—a patchwork of vineyards, olive groves, and wheat fields—along the way. With 9,000-year-old cave dwellings and a maze-like network of underground passages and chambers, you'll feel like you're staying in a real-life labyrinth. Head for dinner with friends, have a splash of vino (or two, common theme here), and take it all in. You might even start to recognize the views from a certain James Bond flick. CONNECT Day 4 - Ma tera MATERA ROCKS Your morning’s free, so sleep in and shake off that late-night or gather the crew and hop back into Matera’s rocky expanse. This ancient city is a twisting, turning tangle of corridors—try to check out the Casa Noha, the Church of Saint Mary of Idris, and the historic architecture along Via Di Ridola. When it's time for a bite, pull up a chair at one of Matera's outdoor eateries, have entirely too much pizza or pasta. That afternoon, we’re heading out and making our way down toward that world-famous Italian coast. Say hello to seaside paradise in Sorrento. The evening is free to explore so grab dinner with friends, stroll the Marina Grande, and don't miss the chance to sip limoncello, a local favorite. MARVEL Day 5 - Sorrento AMO sorrento There’s nothing quite like waking up to a Sorrento sunrise. After a bite at the hotel, it’s time to drive on over to Positano. Spend your day lounging with friends as you soak up one of the most picturesque towns along the entire Amalfi Coast. Hit Positano beach, or head toward the iconic Arienzo Beach Club for a splash of rosé and sea views. That evening, we’ll have a scenic dinner together in Positano, and then you can head to a subterranean seaside cave club for a one-of-a-kind good time to dance it up before heading home. INDULGE Day 6 - Capri Cruise to caPrI After catching up on our Positano night out over breakfast, we’re off on a private boat trip towards Capri. With a mix of rocky coves, towering mountains, historic ruins, and a whole slew of lavish bars and restaurants, this island’s fame is well-deserved. For lunch, we’ll all get together for a one-of-a-kind Italian meal cooked up right in front of us at our favorite spot in all of Capri. With your five course tasting menu, you'll try fresh vegetables from an organic onsite garden and plenty of local wine. After that, it's back to the boats as we cruise through more stunning views in the Bay of Naples back to Sorrento and the mainland. CRUISE Day 7 - Rome SEA and S UN Get breakfast with the crew, and then your morning’s free. Hit Sorrento’s waterfront boardwalk for some final Mediterranean fun or grab souvenirs for friends and family back home; not everyone gets to spend a week traveling from Puglia to the Amalfi Coast. Later on, we’ll meet up and head for Rome to make it nice and easy to catch your flight out tomorrow. After we get to the capital, you’ll get to share some final laughs with the crew as you drink up more of that delicious Italian wine and chow down on a final farewell feast. BOOK! Maybe even head north to Tuscany , south to Sardinia , or take a train west toward Barcelona and the South of France . There’s nothing quite like traveling through Europe; if you’ve got the time, make the most of it—the Amalfi Coast and Puglia are epic, but there’s always more to see. • Phone-Free Trip FAQs | FTLO Travel

Your Questions Answered ABOUT FTLO BOOKING LAST-MINUTE BOOKINGS TRAVEL PREP ON A TRIP COVID Phone-Fre FAQs phone-free FAQs Why Phone-Free Trips? What does "phone-free" really mean? How will I know when and where to be? How will I get in touch with my trip leader? How will I stay connected with my travel mates? How will I get around during free time? How will I call a taxi? What about photos? How can I stay in touch with friends and family? What if there is an emergency? #1 1. Why Phone-Free Trips? According to a new poll, more than 63% of millennials are interested in returning to their analog roots . As huge fans of spontaneous and adventurous travel, that got us wondering, what would travel without a phone feel like today? With that question in mind, we decided to launch a brand-new series of departures aimed at reclaiming the essence of travel so that our crew could have the chance to travel like it used to be, to wander without distraction, and forge genuine connections with the people and places that make travel (and life) more interesting. 2. What does "phone-free" really mean? The idea is to go the entire trip without using a cell phone, whether that means leaving it at home or turned off in the bottom of your luggage. No google maps for directions, TripAdvisor for recommendations, or iPhone camera for IG shots. While Trip Leaders won’t confiscate phones, we hope everyone who signs up for this type of experience embraces the spirit of the trip and their travel mates’ commitment to a phoneless experience. That said, we’re happy for phones to be stored in luggage or hotel safes for emergencies. Phone-free trips won’t be for everyone (and that’s totally okay!). The experience will be part opportunity to disconnect and part challenge of exploring a new place without a smartphone… like travelers used to. #2 #3 3. How will I get information about where to be when? While it might be near impossible to travel by yourself without a phone, going with FTLO means we’ve thought of how to make the experience as headache-free as possible. For example, in addition to maps and printed itineraries, Trip Leaders will post the following day’s schedule, with any updates or additional details to the printable itinerary, in the hotel lobby. If any last-minute schedule changes occur, the Trip Leader will call the rooms of all travelers or leave a note under their doors. 4. How will I get in touch with my trip leader? Trip leaders will still have cell phones and you will have a printed out card with their information in case you need to get ahold of them. They will be available in the hotel breakfast area each day to let you know about any updates to the day’s schedule and answer any questions. #4 5. How will I stay connected with my travel mates? The nature of a Phone-Free Trip means that you will spend more time exploring with your travel mates and making plans ahead of time. Both the structure of the trip and your trip leader will facilitate group engagement and activities outside of the planned itinerary. #5 6. How will I get around during free time? IWe will provide you with local maps and plenty of suggestions for places to go during your free time. If you need help finding an address, you can ask at the hotel, in a bar or café, or to someone on the street who looks like they know where they’re going. Have fun with it! #6 7. How will I call a taxi? Hotels, restaurants, and cafés should be willing to help you call a taxi. Trip Leaders will also provide instructions on how/whether taxis can be hailed on the street and/or how to find a taxi stand while you’re out and about. Pro level: ask a stranger to borrow their cell phone to call a cab 🙂 #7 #8 8. What about photos? We’re not banning all electronic devices on trips - just phones. If taking photos is important to you, we recommend bringing a digital camera. Or even better, bring a disposable and only look at the photos when you get the film developed. 9. How can I stay in touch with friends and family? The idea of a Phone-Free Trip is to disconnect—even if that means getting some distance from your friends and family. That said, if you must call home, you can do that from the hotel. #9 10. What if there is an emergency either while on the trip or with people back home? Remember, we’re not confiscating phones so if there is a true emergency, you can turn on your phone and use it to contact whomever you need. Your Trip Leader will also have a cell phone on them and you will have their phone number on a card we provide. In addition to the Trip Leader’s number, the card will include phone numbers and addresses for all the hotels you will stay at, as well as local emergency numbers for police, fire, and ambulance. Before the trip, we will provide a shareable document with all hotel contact numbers and dates of stay in each city, as well as the Trip Leader’s phone number for use in an emergency. You can pass this sheet on to loved ones who may need to reach you while you’re traveling. #10 ready to travel with us? SUBMIT TRAVEL PROFILE
