Trip Notes
Read through helpful flight details, trip notes and details about our Bali Trip.
Arrive
Fly into Bali (DPS)
This trip begins in Ubud, Bali, and the nearest airport is I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), which is about an hour by car.
Plan to arrive in Bali by 1 PM on Day 1; however, we do recommend flying in earlier to shake off the jet lag and explore the city on your own!
Depart
Fly out of Bali (DPS)
This trip ends in Uluwatu, Bali and the nearest airport is I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) which is roughly 30 minutes by car. We recommend booking a roundtrip flight to DPS or extending your trip and enjoying a few more days in Indonesia.
Passport Requirements
To travel to Bali, your passport must have 2 blank pages and 6 months validity beyond arrival date. Indonesia does not accept the 12-page U.S. emergency passport for entry into Indonesia.
Accommodations
In Bali and the surrounding islands, we stay in boutique hotels that embody the region’s rich culture, stunning landscapes, and heartfelt hospitality.
Private Room Upgrades
Limited private room upgrades are available for an additional $999. These rooms are available on a first come basis so plan to book in advance if you are interested in your own room.
Boat Transportation
During this trip, we’ll be taking a number of ferries and boats, so consider bringing sea sickness medication just in case.
Less Crowds
While many Bali tours focus on the busy beaches of Kuta or Seminyak, our itinerary is designed to highlight the island’s hidden gems, where you can truly connect with Bali’s natural beauty and vibrant local culture.
Weather & Seasons
Indonesia lies directly on the equator; that means it’s usually hot and humid year-round. Expect warm, sunny days with a chance of evening rain.
Dietary Restrictions
Bali can accommodate most dietary requirements, but please let our team know ahead of time. Severe nut allergies can be more difficult since nut oils are used frequently in the local food.
Itinerary Changes
This itinerary is subject to change based on the weather conditions and traveler feedback. In the unlikely event that we are unable to run a specific activity, we will have a suitable alternative in place.

How much should I budget for meals and extras?
+
-
Bali is known for its delicious, healthy, and affordable food – from smoothie bowls to grilled seafood and spicy curries. You'll find options for every budget, whether you’re grabbing a nasi goreng from a warung or trying a trendy jungle café.
We recommending budgeting around $250 USD for meals and extras, depending on your eating and drinking habits.
I have dietary restrictions. Will there be options for me?
+
-
Bali is one of the most diet-friendly destinations in Southeast Asia – with plenty of cafes offering vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. That said, some traditional dishes may include fish sauces or hidden animal products.
If you have strict dietary needs, we always recommend bringing a few snacks just in case and letting us know in advance so we can help you navigate meals along the way.
What are the accommodations like?
+
-
You’ll stay in stylish boutique hotels and beachside stays, each selected for comfort, character, and great locations. Expect a mix of jungle vibes and island relaxation — cozy rooms, chill hangout spots, and pools perfect for afternoon dips. Rooms may be smaller than U.S. standards but are thoughtfully designed and full of charm.
What should I pack for Bali?
+
-
Pack light, breathable clothing for hot and humid days, plus a swimsuit, comfortable sandals, and sunscreen. For temple visits, bring a sarong or scarf to cover shoulders and knees. You’ll also want bug spray, a reusable water bottle, and a hat or sunglasses for sun protection. A few elevated outfits are nice for group dinners or nights out.
Any recommendations if I'd like to extend my time abroad?
+
-
If you have more time, there’s plenty more to see within Indonesia. You can explore nearby spots like Canggu or Seminyak, or head to the Nusa Islands for snorkeling and cliffs. From Bali, it’s also easy to reach other parts of Asia, destinations like the Philippines or Thailand are just a short flight away.
When should I arrive and depart, and how do I get to the hotel?
+
-
Plan to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar by 1:00 PM on Day 1 so you have time to check in and join the welcome dinner. A Grab (local rideshare app), Bluebird taxi, or private transfer are all reliable ways to reach the hotel.
On Day 10, the trip ends in Uluwatu, and you're free to depart anytime after breakfast. The drive back to the airport takes around 30min by car, so plan accordingly.
What’s the pace of the itinerary?
+
-
It’s a well-balanced paced trip with time to explore and recharge. You’ll move between Ubud, Gili Islands and Uluwatu – each with its own rhythm, with a mix of planned activities and free afternoons to surf, wander, or sip coconuts by the pool.
What’s the vibe of this trip?
+
-
This trip is ideal for solo travelers craving a mix of beaches, culture, and nature. You’ll explore ancient temples, chill in tropical cafes, learn about Balinese traditions, and connect with a fun, easygoing crew. It’s relaxed, meaningful, and packed with scenic beauty – think waterfalls, rice terraces, and island sunsets.
Do I need a visa to visit Indonesia?
+
-
Yes, most travelers must get a Tourist Visa on Arrival, which costs 500,000 IDR (about $35 USD) and is valid for 30 days. You can get this at the airport in Bali or apply online in advance with the electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) if you're entering through Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Be sure your passport is valid for at least six months and that you have a return or onward flight. For the most updated information, please check a reputable source.
When’s the best time to go to Bali?
+
-
Expect warm, sunny weather with highs around 85°F (29°C) and cooler evenings in the jungle. It’s ideal for outdoor adventures and exploring without the heavy rains of the wet season.
