Day 1 - Bled

Slovenian Start

Check into your hotel nestled in Old Havana and grab a drink with your travel crew.

In the afternoon, we’ll head out on a walking tour where you’ll get your first taste of architecture so significant it earned a spot on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Continue on and give a mojito a go—the local favorite and Cuban national drink has been a staple on these lively shores for centuries.

That night, we’ll all head out together to grab some dinner and check out local live music in one of the neighborhood's trendiest spots.

Arrive

Fly into Ljubljana (LJU)

You’ll need to get to Bled by 5 PM on Day 1; however, we recommend flying in earlier so that you have some time to explore Ljubljana on your own. From Ljubljana, you can take a 1-hour bus from Ljubljana Station for around €5 or a taxi from Ljubljana airport for €50-65.

Depart

Fly out of Ljubljana (LJU)

We recommend flying out of Ljubljana or extending your trip and enjoying a few more days in Slovenia or a nearby European destination.

Passport Requirements

You’ll need a passport with at least two blank pages and valid for at least three months after your planned departure. We recommend having six months of validity beyond your trip dates, just to be safe.

Visas

Visas are not required for U.S. travelers for stays of 90 days or less (within a 180-day period).

Accommodations

We stay in boutique, personality-filled hotels that reflect the charm of each region – from lakeside Bled to Ljubljana’s historic center.

Accessibility

Some parts of this trip may include uneven terrain that are not fully accessible. If you have any questions, please contact us before booking so we can help you plan accordingly.

From May to October, expect mild to warm weather—great for hiking, boating, and outdoor meals. Daytime temps range from 60–85°F (16–29°C), but evenings can be cooler.

Itinerary Changes

This itinerary is subject to change based on the weather conditions and traveler feedback. In the unlikely event that we are unable to run a specific activity, we will have a suitable alternative in place.

Let's Get Social

What’s the vibe of this trip?

+

-

This trip is perfect for travelers who want a mix of local flavor, beautiful landscapes, and immersive cultural moments. Think slow mornings by the lake, shared meals from forest-foraged ingredients, and cozy wine tastings in a castle-filled countryside.

The group energy is curious, friendly, and always up for something new – especially when there’s food involved.

What’s the pace of the itinerary?

+

-

You’ll keep a steady rhythm with daily activities like gorge hikes, wine tastings, castle visits, and cooking workshops. The days are active but not rushed, with time to relax on a boat ride or wander charming towns. It’s a great pace if you like variety without feeling overbooked.

I have dietary restrictions. Will there be options for me?

+

-

Yes, Slovenia’s food scene has become increasingly accommodating. Let us know your needs after booking and we’ll make sure your guide can help you navigate menus, especially during group meals. If you’re vegan or gluten-free, you may want to bring a few backup snacks for rural stops.

What are the accommodations like?

+

-

We stay in boutique, personality-filled hotels that reflect the charm of each region – from lakeside Bled to Ljubljana’s historic center.

They’re clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully located, with smaller rooms and quirky features that feel part of the adventure.

When’s the best time to go to Slovenia?

+

-

We run this trip during the summer season, when Slovenia is warm, green, and full of life. Expect sunny days, comfortable nights, and perfect weather for hiking, boating, and al fresco meals.

When should I arrive and depart, and how do I get to the hotel?

+

-

Plan to arrive at Ljubljana Airport (LJU) by 5:00 PM on Day 1 to make it to our welcome dinner in Bled. If you’d like to explore Ljubljana beforehand, consider arriving a day early. To get from the airport or Ljubljana city center to Bled, you can take a direct bus (~€5), a train (~€15), or a taxi (~€50–65) — all are safe and easy to book.

On the final day, you’re free to fly out of LJU anytime.

What should I pack for Slovenia?

+

-

Summer in Slovenia is generally warm and sunny, but evenings can cool off – especially in alpine areas like Bled. Pack light layers, a swimsuit, sunscreen, bug spray, and sturdy walking shoes for hikes through places like Vintgar Gorge. You’ll also want one outfit you love for wine tastings, lakeside dinners, and Ljubljana evenings.

How much should I budget for meals and extras?

+

-

From lakeside cafés to traditional Slovenian dinners, it’s easy to eat well here without spending a lot. Glasses of wine or local gelato won’t break the bank either.

We recommend budgeting around $150 for meals and personal expenses not included in the itinerary, depending on your consumption habits.

Any recommendations if I'd like to extend my time abroad?

+

-

If you’re looking to extend your travels, Slovenia borders Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia, making it an ideal starting point for nearby adventures. You can travel west to Tuscany & Rome for food and wine, or head south toward Greece for island scenery. To stay in cooler temps, head north to Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm.
