Day 1 – Belize River

Welcome to Belize!

Check into your hotel nestled in Old Havana and grab a drink with your travel crew.

In the afternoon, we’ll head out on a walking tour where you’ll get your first taste of architecture so significant it earned a spot on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Continue on and give a mojito a go—the local favorite and Cuban national drink has been a staple on these lively shores for centuries.

That night, we’ll all head out together to grab some dinner and check out local live music in one of the neighborhood's trendiest spots.

Trip Notes

Read through helpful flight details, trip notes and details about our Belize Trip.

Arrive

Fly into Belize City (BZE)

Arrive by 2:30 PM on Day 1 and grab a cab to our jungle resort. We recommend flying in earlier so you have some time to explore the city on your own!

Depart

Fly out of Belize City (BZE)

We recommend booking an afternoon flight home as you will need to take a ferry back to Belize City and short car ride to the airport.

Passport Requirements

To enter Belize, your passport must be valid at the time of entry. We recommend ensuring a few extra months of validity beyond your travel dates, just in case.

Visas

Visas are not required for U.S. travelers for stays of 180 days or less, but you must be able to show proof of your return or onward ticket upon arrival.

Accommodations

You’ll stay at a boutique hotel near Belize City and a beachfront escape, both with modern amenities and access to restaurants, shops, and water activities.

Private Room Upgrades

Private room upgrades are available for an additional $699 and can be added during booking. These are available on a first come basis so plan to book in advance if you are interested in your own room.

Marine Life

You might spot sharks, rays, eels, or barracudas – but don’t worry, they’re usually harmless! Just enjoy the incredible marine life, respect their space, and you’ll have an unforgettable underwater experience.

Water Safety

We recommend wearing a life jacket while snorkeling for added safety. Water shoes or closed-toed shoes that can get wet will help protect your feet and keep you steady on slippery or rocky terrain.

Dietary Restrictions

Belizean cuisine features a lot of meat and seafood, so vegetarian and vegan options may be limited, especially in smaller towns. Plan ahead and let us know your needs early so we can help where possible.

Itinerary Changes

This itinerary is subject to change based on the weather conditions and traveler feedback. In the unlikely event that we are unable to run a specific activity, we will have a suitable alternative in place.

Weather

The mid-day sun in Belize can be intense, so be sure to wear plenty of SPF and take breaks in the shade to stay cool and protected while exploring.

Let's Get Social

#ftlobelize in the wild

What’s the vibe of this trip?

+

-

This trip is relaxed and tropical, great for travelers who want to unplug, connect with nature, and make new friends in a chill, social setting. You’ll swim in jungle waterfalls, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, and sip cocktails on the beach — all with a laid-back group of solo travelers.

What’s the pace of the itinerary?

+

-

With two destinations in five days, this trip has a lively but not overwhelming pace. Expect early mornings for excursions, one travel day between the jungle and the beach, and plenty of time carved out to relax by the pool, explore town, or kick back with a drink in hand.

What are the accommodations like?

+

-

You’ll stay in two unique and inviting spots – a lush riverside jungle resort surrounded by greenery, and a laid-back beach resort on Caye Caulker

Rooms are cozy and comfortable, designed to immerse you in the natural beauty of each location. Expect a warm welcome, scenic settings, and spaces great for group bonding or solo recharge time.

When’s the best time to go?

+

-

Most trips run during Belize’s dry season (typically late November through May), when the weather is warm, sunny, and ideal for beaches, snorkeling, and jungle adventures. Expect temps in the 80s–90s°F (27–35°C), with humid mornings and breezy afternoons. Rain is rare, but short tropical showers can still pop up, especially earlier in the season.

If your trip falls between June and Mid November, you'll be visiting during Belize’s green season. Expect more frequent afternoon or evening showers, but also fewer crowds, lush jungle landscapes, and cooler evenings. Mornings are often clear, perfect for excursions and time outdoors.

What should I pack?

+

-

Bring lightweight, breathable clothing, swimwear, and a hat or sunglasses for long days in the sun. You’ll want sturdy sandals or water shoes for island activities, plus insect repellent for the jungle. A light jacket or long layer can come in handy for cooler evenings, and don’t forget your reusable water bottle and a day bag for excursions.

When should I arrive and depart, and how do I get to the hotel?

+

-

Plan to arrive at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) by 2:30 PM on Day 1 so you can make it to our jungle resort by late afternoon (target arrival: 4:30 PM). Taxis, private transfers, or pre-arranged shuttles are the most reliable ways to get from the airport.

The trip ends on Day 5 on Caye Caulker, and you’re free to fly out from BZE anytime after 12:30 PM (allowing time for the ferry and road transfer back to the mainland).

I have dietary restrictions. Will there be options for me?

+

-

Yes, just let us know your needs ahead of time. Belize is growing more accommodating for gluten-free, vegetarian, and dairy-free travelers. That said, vegan options may be limited outside of tourist-friendly areas, and meat or fish-based broths can sneak into traditional dishes. Our first hotel is located outside the city, so food options may be more limited on the first night — but once you arrive in Caye Caulker, you'll find a wider variety of cafes and restaurants. Your trip leader can help navigate menus, and it’s a good idea to pack snacks if you have stricter needs.

How much should I budget for meals and extras?

+

-

Belize offers Caribbean-meets-Central American flavors, with seafood, tropical fruits, and local specialties. Meals are affordable, and many places accept USD.

We recommend planning to spend around $150 USD, depending on how much you snack or splurge.
