The Lapland Trip

Active • Nature • Adventure

For the love of dog-sledding adventures, glass-igloo stargazing, and aurora panoramas — add husky rides, snowmobiling thrills, and Arctic wonder. That’s our Lapland trip.

Welcome to Lapland!

8 Days / 7 Nights

Starting At $6,399

Up To 16

Our small group trip to Lapland caters to solo travelers in their 20s and 30s looking to hunt the northern lights in Norway, snowmobile across Sweden, and dog sled through Finland.

On this once-in-a-lifetime trip, you'll float beneath the stars in pools of ice, cuddle gregarious huskies, sleep in glass igloos, and make life-long friends in remotely beautiful landscapes. A mix of thrilling experiences by day and hot toddy bonding in local watering holes by night (after your daily sauna fix, of course), it’s an adventure like no other, one designed for all the intrepid spirits out there.

It involves more moving around than some of our other trips and longer drives, but the scenery is captivating, so you can kick back and unwind. While we’ve included epic activities in each destination, you'll have more than enough time to explore the wonderful towns of Lapland on your own as well.

Day 1 – Rovaniemi

Arctic Welcome

Check into your hotel nestled in Old Havana and grab a drink with your travel crew.

In the afternoon, we’ll head out on a walking tour where you’ll get your first taste of architecture so significant it earned a spot on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Continue on and give a mojito a go—the local favorite and Cuban national drink has been a staple on these lively shores for centuries.

That night, we’ll all head out together to grab some dinner and check out local live music in one of the neighborhood's trendiest spots.

Fly out of Tromsø (TOS)

Fly out of Norway at any time on Day 8 or extend your trip and enjoy a few more days in Tromsø.

Airports

For direct flights to Rovaniem on Sundays, you can fly through these major cities: London, Paris, Helsinki, Dusseldorf, and Istanbul. You could also book a roundtrip to one of these cities, then a hopper flight to Rovaniemi, followed by a hopper from Tromsø back to your intermediary city.

Packing List

Expect extremely cold winter weather! Pack warm thermal base layers, heavy coats, waterproof boots, and ample winter accessories & snow gear.

Accommodations

In the Nordic region, our hotels provide a mix of comfort, unique design, and proximity to local attractions ranging from modern amenities and cozy cabins to one-of-a-kind ice crafted snow hotels.

Private Room Upgrades

Private rooms upgrades are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for an additional fee. However, it is important to note that private rooms are not available during our stay at the igloo hotel.

Free Time

You’ll have a free afternoon and evening on Day 5 in Kiruna – perfect for optional activities like dog sledding, ice hotel visits, or snowshoeing. We recommend booking in advance, as availability can be limited, especially in peak season.

Let's Get Social

#ftlolapland in the wild

What’s the vibe of this trip?

+

-

This trip is made for adventurous travelers who want a high-energy escape into snowy nature – with plenty of cozy moments to warm things up.

You’ll bond with your group while floating in frozen lakes, spotting the northern lights, and toasting over Finnish craft beer. It’s welcoming, exciting, and full of once-in-a-lifetime moments.

What’s the pace of the itinerary?

+

-

It’s an active, multi-country itinerary with daily excursions like dog sledding, snowmobiling, and guided cultural visits.

Expect early mornings, full days, and some scenic drives between destinations – but always balanced with sauna sessions, local food, and laid-back nights with the group.

What are the accommodations like?

+

-

You’ll stay in a mix of cozy Nordic hotels and unique Arctic stays across several regions.

  • In Rovaniemi, we kick things off in a modern, centrally located hotel with easy access to town and festive vibes.

  • In Sinetta, you’ll experience a room made entirely of ice that’s magical and memorable, though it can be quite cold.

  • In Kiruna, you’ll settle into sustainable cabins surrounded by nature.

  • In Tromsø, we wrap up in a compact but comfortable hotel right in the city center.

All rooms are shared unless you book a private upgrade in advance.

I have dietary restrictions. Will there be options for me?

+

-

Yes, let us know your dietary needs after booking, and we’ll do our best to coordinate with local partners. Traditional Lapland cuisine is hearty and meat-focused, featuring ingredients like reindeer, fish, and game meats. Vegetarian options are available in most restaurants, though vegan and gluten-free choices can be more limited in rural areas due to the region’s location and cultural food traditions.

If you have strict restrictions, consider bringing some of your favorite snacks or staples.

When’s the best time to go to Lapland?

+

-

We run this trip in late winter, when there’s still plenty of snow and a strong chance to see the northern lights

Expect frigid temps outside, cozy warmth indoors, and a mix of clear skies and snowy days. Dressing smart (layers and waterproof gear) makes all the difference.

When should I arrive and depart, and how do I get to the hotel?

+

-

Plan to arrive at Rovaniemi Airport (RVN) by 3 PM on Day 1 to settle in before our welcome dinner and first night activities. Airport taxis and pre-arranged shuttles are available and reliable, especially during snowy months.

On Day 8, you’ll depart from Tromsø Airport (TOS) – you're free to fly out anytime that day after checkout. Be sure to book your arrival into Rovaniemi and departure from Tromsø separately.

What should I pack for Lapland?

+

-

Think warm, cozy, and ready for snow. You’ll want thermal layers, sweaters, and a seriously warm winter coat to stay comfortable outside. Waterproof boots are a must for walking through snow, and it’s smart to pack snow-resistant outerwear for adventures like dog sledding or snowmobiling. Toss in your favorite hat, scarf, gloves, and thick socks to keep toasty. Don’t forget a swimsuit for the sauna, a daypack for outings, and if you're hoping to catch the Northern Lights, a tripod and camera with manual settings can help you get the shot.

How much should I budget for meals and extras?

+

-

Scandinavian dining tends to be pricier, but local specialties like reindeer stew, Arctic char, and fresh baked goods make it worth it. There are also casual food options in most towns if you want to keep things low-key.

We recommend budgeting around $450 for meals and personal expenses not included in the itinerary, depending on your consumption habits.
